Ayde VPN

Kill switch

Blocks all traffic if the VPN connection drops, so nothing leaks outside the tunnel.

You can set this now in My VPN. The Ayde VPN apps that enforce it on your devices are planned.

What it does

A kill switch watches the VPN tunnel. When the tunnel stops for any reason, such as a weak Wi-Fi signal or a server restart, it blocks internet access until the tunnel is back. Without it your device would quietly fall back to your normal connection and show your real IP address.

How it works

  1. 1

Turn the kill switch on for your account, or per device, in My VPN under Security.

  2. 2

The app keeps a firewall rule that only allows traffic through the VPN tunnel.

  3. 3

If the tunnel drops, traffic stops until the app reconnects, then it resumes on its own.

Where it will run

Questions

Will I lose my internet connection?

Only while the VPN is reconnecting. That short gap is the protection: no data leaves unencrypted.

Does it work with the WireGuard app today?

The WireGuard app on Windows offers a similar block option. The setup guide for your platform explains it.
